PREPARING FOR BIOTERRORISM  
 

Preparing for and Responding to Bioterrorism: Information for Primary Care Physicians" is a collection of online materials that can be used for independent study by primary care physicians and other health professionals. There is no tuition. The delivery of the course is a collaboration between the Burns Technology Center and the Montana Area Health Education Center (AHEC) at Montana State University--Bozeman.

The course contains the following modules:

  2. Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response
  3. Anthrax
  4. Smallpox
  5. Plague and Botulism
  6. Tularemia and Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers
  7. Psychological Aftermath of Crisis

The course was developed by the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice at the University of Washington School of Public Health & Community Medicine.  Lead authors were Jennifer Brennan Braden, MD, MPH, Northwest Center for Public Health Practice and Jeffrey S. Duchin, MD Communicable Disease Control, Epidemiology and Immunization Section, Public Health — Seattle & King County.  Patrick O'Carroll, MD, MPH, who is currently the Regional Health Administrator for HRSA Region X, served as the Project Coordinator.

The University of Washington offers Continuing Medial Education (CME) credit for completion of this course. The cost is $35 a credit. All course participants will be provided with instructions for requesting CME credit once they register.

The course is one of several resources available through the Montana State University Bioterrorism Education and Training Project, a collaboration between the Montana Area Health Education Center (AHEC), the Burns Technology Center, the Montana Office of Rural Health (MORH), the Extension Service, the WWWAMI Medical Education Program, and the College of Nursing.
