Grading Rubric for HOMEWORK

2 to 3: Meeting and Exceeding Expectations

Homework is done to completion. It is neat and organized and there are almost no errors in the work that was done. It is obvious the student put much time and effort into the assignment and took care doing the work. Clearly the work was well thought out.

1 to 2: Working Towards Expectations

Homework may be missing some part of the assignment that was given. It is not very neat or organized and it is somewhat difficult to grade. There are significant errors in answers given. It seems as if the student put little time, effort or thought into the assignment and this is reflected in the work done.

0 to 1: Work was Not Done or is Not Meeting Expectations

Homework is missing more than half of the assignment given. Work is very difficult to follow because it is not neat or organized. There are many errors in the answers given and it seems that the student put little time or effort into the work. Concepts expressed need more thought. Student either needs extra help to understand the assignment (and should have asked), or needs to set aside more time to do the work assigned.

Grading Rubric for DISCUSSIONS

2 to 3: Meeting and Exceeding Expectations

Student participated early in the discussion and at least twice in a meaningful manner. By their interaction they moved the discussion forward. It was clear that the student took time to think about comments or questions posed and responded in a way that was respectful, articulate, thought provoking, and on time. Strong effort and investment in the discussion was evident.

1 to 2: Working Towards Expectations

Student participated in the discussion at least once in a meaningful manner and by their interaction moved the discussion forward. Student took some time to think about comments or questions posed, but there is room for improvement. Responses seem rushed with only some depth or thought provoking comments. Some effort and investment in the discussion was evident.

0 to 1: Work was Not Done or is Not Meeting Expectations

There was little to no participation in the discussion or the student participated in some of the discussion but responses were clearly rushed, were late in the week, or had little thought put into them. Responses may not have been respectful, articulate, thought provoking, or on time. Clearly more effort or investment in the discussion is needed.
