My name is Stefanie Long and I am a math teacher at Manual High School in Peoria, Illinois. I am thrilled to be a part of the MESSENGER to Mercury Educator Fellow program. My interest in space exploration and space education was jump started in 2000 when I attended a NASA Education Workshop (NEW) at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. It is an amazing experience I recommend to anyone who thinks they are interested in space - you will certainly be enthusiastic about it when you leave! Since then I've shared my experiences and curriculum materials with other teachers at various conferences.
My focus as a MESSENGER to Mercury Educator Fellow is to share the science modules with teachers of grades K-12, but with a math emphasis. I am focusing on pre-service teachers in the Illinois/Wisconsin area, however, I am looking for the opportunity to share these engaging materials to any interested group of teachers in the Midwest.
