Course Description: Drawing upon his 26 years in local and state elected office, as well as his 30-year career as a government teacher, John Vincent will offer participants the opportunity to explore the politics of Gallatin County, Bozeman, and the state legislature from the time of Montana's adoption of its new state constitution in 1972 to the present. John's access to present and former office holders and other key players in state and local politics will provide participants the opportunity to gain the perspective of several important figures in state, Bozeman, and Gallatin County politics. Given his many years as an elected office holder at three different levels of government, participants can also expect to learn a great deal about how Bozeman city government, Gallatin County government, and the state legislature actually work given the realities of politics and government in Gallatin County and Montana. Class format: Reading for this course will be minimal.
