Course Description: From Enron and WorldCom to Countrywide Mortgage to Merck Pharmaceuticals and the Vioxx scandal, we are bombarded with stories of ethical misdeeds. Are these ethical lapses by corporate leaders part of a broader pattern of declining ethics in today’s world? Can businesses be ethical? We will examine businesses in the current ethical environment. Through readings, case analysis using current business problems, discussion and debate, we will gain a better understanding of why these ethical lapses seem so prevalent.
