Course Description: This Side Trip is a preview of the Intermountain Opera Association’s upcoming performance of Puccini’s La Boheme. Principal singers from the cast as well as the artistic director, piano accompanist, stage director and conductor will discuss one of the most popular operas in the repertory. This is a wonderful opportunity to become better acquainted with the composer, libretto, music and the singers. Since we are meeting at the Willson Auditorium, where the opera is performed, we will learn more about the behind-the-scenes activities: set changing, lighting, props and special effects—everything on how an opera is translated from musical notation on paper to vivid life on the stage. La Boheme will be presented by the Intermountain Opera Association at the Willson Auditorium on May 13 and 15 at 7 p.m. and on May 17 at 3 p.m. You are encouraged to get tickets early for this outstanding performance.
