How to Create a WebCT Exam from an ExamView Exam

Close this page when done!

1. Open exam in ExamView
2. Export the exam to WebCT Format

• Click on File/Export
• Save as type: WebCT 3.x (.zip)

• Create a WebCT Directory
  • WebCT will automatically create this folder when you import the file into WebCT.
• Choose a Category Name
  • Choose a name that reflects the question set so you can identify them inside WebCT.
  • WebCT will automatically create the category for you.

3. Import Exam Questions into WebCT

• Open Control Panel
• Click on Manage Files
• Upload the test file (.zip)

• Select and unzip the test file

• Unzip to My-Files
  • A folder will be created using the category name. (i.e. ComputerConceptsExam1)

 

4. Create the Quiz in WebCT
To create the quiz you will first add the new question set to the Question Database and then you will be able to create the quiz based on the category name you gave your question set.

• Click on Tests and Quizzes
• Click on Question Database

• Click Import Questions from file

• Browse
• Select the questions.txt file located in the WebCT Directory you specified in the Export to WebCT Operation.
  • (i.e. ComputerConceptsCh1_2)
• Click Import

• Scroll to bottom of screen and click continue

• View your category
  • Your category is named what you called it in the Export to WebCT operation.
    • (i.e. ComputerConceptsExam1)

To create the quiz

• Click Tests and Quizzes
• Click Create Quiz

• Name the quiz
• Click Create

• Click Edit

• Click Add a Question Set

• Select the question set (category name)
  • Make sure to expand the folder and make sure all questions are checked.
  • Note: by adding a question set - you can randomize the exam.
• Click Add Selected

You can now preview your quiz, edit quiz settings, etc.
