Instructor Group Views

Example: Managing members for the "Hubot Group"...

Select members of the "Hubot Group"...

Selecting Student 05 through Student 08. Note that the instructor is not selected as part of the group.

Upon review, before selecting the "Done" hotlink button, the instructor has not been selected as part of the group...

When in the "Designer Options" mode, the "Robot Group" (of which the instructor is a member) has a hotlink available to be able to access the messages within the topic. However, the "Hubot Group" (of which the instructor is NOT a member) reveals no hotlink for access into the topic-- though the topic still remains visible to the instructor.

member of the group not a member of the group

When selecting the "View" mode...

The "Robot Group" appears to the instructor while the "Hubot Group" (as well as the "Human Group"-- of which the instructor is also not a member) is not seen.

If an instructor wishes to participate in a private topic area, he/she must go back into the "Designer Options" mode and add him/herself as a member.

Show members

When in the "View" mode, it is convenient to be able to view the members of a particular group by selecting the "private" hotlink.

In the "Show members" area, all group members are revealed. As indicated below, the instructor is a member of the "Robot Group" and that is why he/she can see the members as well as access the group message area.

Note: This is the also way it works for student view in the course. The students see a similar view to that of the instructor (when the instructor is in "View Mode") and can select the "private" hotlink (as above) to reveal members of the group.
