Fellows at the Flyby

Five MESSENGER Educator Fellows serve as the voice of the MESSENGER mission to Mercury during the spacecraft’s historic flyby of its target planet on October 6, 2008. The Fellows are attending the flyby events at the Mission Operations Center and the Science Operations Center and reporting on their experiences in real time.

Through the Fellows’ eyes, the whole world will be able to experience the flyby as seen from the MESSENGER Mission Operations Center, as well as share the scientists’ excitement as new data arrives on the days following the flyby. The reporting will be done using social networking sites and other Web 2.0 tools. Follow the links below to the blogs and other flyby pages the Fellows have set up for their reporting.

The Fellows attending and reporting on the flyby events include:

The flyby experiences will also be transmitted through the MESSENGER mission Facebook page and Twitter page

Disclaimer: Please note that the links above will take you to social networking sites which include the writers’ own personal experiences and impressions and are not official NASA or MESSENGER mission pages whose accuracy has been verified.
