Weight Force

The gravitational pull of the earth on a skater is called the skater's weight. This force always acts vertically down and has a point of application at the center of mass of the object. The following figure uses arrows to demonstrate the weight force on two different skaters. The larger weight force of the bigger skater is represented by a larger arrow. However, the direction, point of application, and line of action are all identical for the two skaters.
